As the owners, we bring to Java
On The Rock our passion for great coffee, our combined
25 years of experience in the coffee industry, and our commitment
to outstanding quality and service.
Java On The Rock is
the synthesis of our favorite talents and skills and our work
histories, added to our strong desire to be involved from
start to finish in every aspect of a project. Prior to moving
to Hawaii, we owned a small business in Northern California
offering services to coffee houses. We designed coffee houses
and espresso carts, distributed equipment and products, and
trained baristas. Throughout those years we constantly stressed
quality to our clients. It was during this time that we came
to see that although we provided all of our clients with the
same high quality equipment, products, and training, not all
of these coffee house owners offered a great coffee experience
to their customers. To deliver the finest coffee to customers
requires a never-ending (almost neurotic!) loop of vigilance
in selecting products, cleaning and maintaining the espresso
machine, grinders and coffee brewers, and in training staff
to understand and care about quality. Good coffee takes work!!
We moved to Hawaii in 1995 and acquired our
coffee farm. For the first two years Bruce continued to be
involved in distributing and servicing espresso machines while
Andrea learned about running a coffee farm. When an opportunity
arose to lease space in the mornings for our own coffeehouse,
we dived right into this project. We know from the feedback
we get from our customers that we are meeting our goals of
offering great coffee and espresso. And an unexpected benefit
of this business is that we have met so many wonderful people—both
visitors and locals. In fact, the best parts of Java On
The Rock for us are all the aloha we share with our customers
and working just feet away from the ocean!
